tone(after the ball)

1. What is the author's attitude towards the action or events?
- the narator was done by Ivan himself, you could see that Ivan really love Varenka.

2. Is the story humorous or tragic or frightening  Does the author want you to laugh, or cry, to feel happy or sad, to experience anger or fear?- i think this story ended sadly, because the guy fell in love with this girl but the girl does not reurn his feeling and also he finds out that her father is a colonel who likes to make other people's lives miserable. I think the author just wants us feel bad for him, and as for experience i think it would be anger fear and it makes me want to cry.

3. What is the author's attitude towards character or the narrator? Does the author like or dislike, trust or mistrust the characters or the narrator?- i have no idea, because he didnt really tell how he feel.

1. What are some of the symbols in the story?
- Before Varenka left Ivan, she gave him a feather from her fan to let him know that she wants to keep ivan in her heart and that she wants him to have something of hers so that he could remember that wonderful night.

2. Are there any objects which seem to have symbolic meaning? What are their meanings?
- no,but that simple situation that happened had much more meaning than what it seemed like it too.

3. Do any people act as symbols in the story? What do they represent?
- i dont think so, they act for themselves.

4. DO aspects of the story's setting seem symbolic? In what way?
-no

5. Is one symbol used throughout the story or do the symbols change?

-only one, it happened in the end of the story and she gave Ivan something to remember her from.

Imagery(After the ball)

1. everyone was shocked because when he describe Varenka, he used the word like majestic, bold, extra and odinary beat. he made everyone who was hearing feel the passion he had towards Varenka. After reading this story and finiding out what happened in the end still makes i feel disappointed because the way he described her showed that he may still have a little part of him that still loves her.

2. At first it made me feel wriggle because it was really poor then I realized that this man was in love and half of the time what he was saying made no sense to me. but it also made me feel this story was a romantic story.
3. i felt like wriggle because it was too cheesy and it was really adorable. But mostly i think this was with hearing because i imagined this story like the movies, when like someone is getting interviewed and they have flashbacks.
The author probably wanted us to know about the passion Ivan felt for Varenka. And i did feel the sense of lust in it.
